Stay information

Rent the entire Rose Jean boutique hotel all to yourself! This renovated Charlottesville icon has 5 spacious rooms, each with an attached luxury hotel style bathroom. The house features an indoor sitting area and high top table, but the best space is the backyard, which features a large outdoor dining table that seats 12, bistro lighting, and Adirondack chairs for lounging. Just one block from the Downtown Mall and next door to Bang and other popular restaurants, this space is perfect for bachelorette parties, wedding parties, large groups, private dinners and events!

Inspired by European inns and appreciation for regional art, Rose Jean offers 5 boutique hotel-like rooms steps from Charlottesville's downtown pedestrian mall. Located in a repurposed historic building built in 1920, the rooms at Rose Jean are designed to be a modern, independent lodging experience, so there is no front desk, onsite staff or formal check-in. All of the details, from the restoration to the design, have been carefully thought out, including the name, which comes from the proprietors' mothers. The clean, contemporary interior showcases the original artwork of several well-known, Virginia-based artists. Each room is spacious, offering a luxurious king bed, a modern bathroom with a walk in shower and heated floors, a smart TV, a desk, mini fridge, espresso maker, and ample space to spread out. The inside entrance parlor invites conversation and lounging with a relaxed retro vibe.

The backyard boasts a blue stone patio with a large farm dining table, custom-built from the wood beams of the historic structure. A step down from the patio is a pea-graveled terrace with Adirondack chairs. The outdoor spaces are lined with gardens and well-lit with hanging bistro lights. The common areas of Rose Jean make it a versatile space depending on your visit. Booking the entire space creates an excellent venue for wedding parties and private parties who want separate accommodations (each room with its own hotel-style keypad), with shared spaces for gathering.

For your convenience, you may consider where each room is located when thinking about your group:
Room #1 is located on the first floor with windows overlooking the front porch. Guests have access to the shared parlor and outdoor seating spaces.
Room #2 is located on the first floor with windows overlooking the side patio. Guests have access to the shared parlor and outdoor seating spaces.
Room #3 is on the second floor with vaulted ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and windows that overlook the front of the building. Guests have access to the shared parlor and outdoor seating spaces.
Room #4 is on the second floor with vaulted ceilings, exposed wooden beams, and windows that overlook the front and back patio. Guests have access to the shared parlor and outdoor seating spaces.
Room #5 is on the ground level and the only room out of the 5 that has its own separate entrance. It is accessed around the left side of the building and through the back patio and terrace on the backside of the building for maximum privacy. Guests staying in Room #5 may bring up to one dog as a travel companion.

Great location surrounded by restaurants and shops at the Downtown Mall, as well as yummy restaurant (Bang) next door. All 5 rooms were comfy and clean and good sized. The common area/parlor is nice with lots of outlets and different seating options. For groups like ours (reunion of college pals) it would have been nice to have a powder room, wet bar and fridge, to avoid having to use one couple's bathroom as the 'common bathroom'; and to avoid having to spread out our tailgate food amongst each room's mini-fridge.I didn’t actually realize there was no kitchen until my friend pointed out she didn’t see a fridge/sink in the online pics of the parlor Luckily weather was fabulous so we all brought coolers to act as a large fridge outside on the patio. The outdoor space is awesome with lots of seating which was great for our group. Unfortunately, the 2 centrally featured fire pits were not functional which was very disappointing. In addition to that the bistro lights were not working night one so we ended up sitting inside the parlor vs sitting out in the darkness. Thankfully, the bistro lights were fixed next day and additional rechargeable lamps were provided as a back-up. We lucked out with the fantastic stretch of weather but imagine it would have been crowded and less comfortable if we all had to be inside the parlor without a common area TV, wet bar or powder room. All in all, and despite some inconveniences, it's a fantastic property and I would stay there again.

Perfect for our group of 3 couples. Location is great for access to the adorable downtown mall and easy to get to hikes, vineyards, breweries, Monticello, etc. Bang restaurant next door was never loud. The only negative was the lack of a small sink/dish soap. We just used one of the empty bedrooms as our ‘kitchen’ space. Only a minor inconvenience. We had long and adventurous days and slept beautifully in the comfortable beds. Great spot!

We rented the entire inn for our extended family to stay while attending a family wedding. They loved everything about the inn - beautiful rooms, pretty patio and great location.
