We all know Travelodge isn't going to be palatial, but generally you can trust them to be clean and comfy places to stay on a budget. Unfortunately, the Cardiff Central Travelodge rather lets the chain down. It's by no means horrible, but it does come across as being rather unloved and shabby in places. Rooms are large enough with good storage space, clean beds and decent showers. However, it's looking a bit rough round the edges in places. The main staircase from Reception to rooms is a case in point, featuring surfaces thick with dust. The room I recently stayed in was also visibly dusty, had rubbish still under the bed from the previous occupiers and featured spots and splashes on the walls that could easily have been wiped off! My room also had a broken light fitting and a dodgy window. It also seemed a rather backward step that the pay TV and telephone services installed the other year have now been removed. Don't get me wrong, this is a good port in a storm and will do for a night or two - but I'd say it's probably slipping into that whole hen and stag party territory quite rapidly!

Good budget hotel providing just the basics at a good price for a major city It is very near to the station and central shopping area. However it is located on busy street over a pub and is therefore inclined to be noisey at night. The staff were freindly and helpful and I would use it again.
