Our stay was a tale of two different places. Any review of the rooms in the historic 1751 part of the inn are bound to be unflattering. These rooms should come with a disclaimer and probably reduced rates, or at least a warning of the problems.Number one, even though they say the inn is not disability equipped, one doesn't expect to do more than go up one a flight of stairs, not hike a long corridor, around a corner, down more steps, through two heavy doors, by the kitchen and up more stairs. The updating of the room from 1751 was minimal, with a tiny bathroom with few conveniences and sloped flooring. We enjoy visiting ancient dwellings, but not living in one. In addition, the rooms are located right next to a busy road and suffer from the noise. The room created many stories for us to tell. On a positive note, the location was convenient, the restaurant was good, an ice cream place is right next door, and $10 off for breakfast a nearby restaurant was a bonus. We assume the rooms in the newer part of the inn are much better, but there should be a warning when making reservations since there is such a huge difference in the rooms, hopefully.

Lovely old, historic inn . Dining was very good. Rooms leave a lot to be desired. It’s on thing for the inn to be old and historic and charming. It’s a whole other ballgame when the rooms are just as antiquated. Rooms definitely need to be updated. Repairs need to be made. Furniture needs to be updated and not from a thrift shop. Electric needs help - not even sure it’s up to code! Anyway, not likely we’d stay there again which is a shame because the location is perfect - our daughter and her family live nearby.

We stayed in Room 207, and overall the room was clean. However, there were a couple of easy areas for improvement. The window drape needed to be properly attached to prevent the light and cold air from coming into the room. This establishment dates from 1751- it’s old. Therefore, the electrical outlets were a tad difficult to use when endeavoring to charge our cells and iPads because the outlets would not cooperate. From the location of this room we could hear a great deal of noise coming from the music and the bar dining area. Since the air conditioning is attached to the window, we could hear the busy morning street traffic. The absolute best part of this establishment is the “restaurant.” The food was “over the moon” delicious and very sophisticated. Our dinner was ABSOLUTELY delicious. The staff was beyond exceptional- everyone was very polite, very friendly and very professional.
