We had a delightful experience at the Cliffside Inn recently. The room was charming; tastefully decorated and very clean. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfasts were quite tasty, and having a happy hour nightly in one of the fireplaced living rooms was a nice touch. Located close to the Cliff Walk and the Mansions and Newport Art Museum was a bonus.

My partner and I came here for a mini getaway to celebrate his birthday. We chose the loft room because of the main photo on their site showing the skylights above the bed. I was super excited about that feature however upon arrival we were escorted to our room only to be told that the skylights above the bed are under repair and will not be functional during our stay. I was quite disappointed but what was I going to do? I had already paid close to $1000 for 2 nights and didn’t have any other options at that point. I do feel that this should have been repaired prior to our arrival or a discount for the inconvenience or even a different room option should have been offered. The individual that checked me in actually came to tell me that they needed to charge my card an extra penny, lol. They are worried about a penny instead of making sure everything is functional for their guests! What a joke! The bed frame appears to be too big for the mattress because the frame oddly sticks out at the bottom end of the bed, I bumped my legs on it multiple times just walking by and have some serious bruising on both legs because of it. The water pressure in the bathroom was extremely low and the whirlpool bath took forever to fill up. The bed wasn’t comfortable at all, quite hard. The pillows did make it somewhat tolerable. We definitely had trouble falling asleep. I did get quite the workout going up and down the inn stairs to the room, lol. Also the room never gets truly dark.

The Cliffside is a beautiful property with a Gilded Age charm. The staff was welcoming and professional. The amenities were great and outdoor fire pit area was a bonus.
