Stay information

Once visited by Oliver Cromwell and Henry VI, parts of Irton Hall date back to the 14th century. It retains traditional timber framing and other charming features, but offers modern amenities like free Wi-Fi. There are traditionally furnished rooms in the 14th-century tower, the converted ballroom, and separate self-catering apartments. All have a flat-screen TV, iPod dock, tea/coffee and a spacious modern bathroom. Irton Hall has as on-site bar, lounge and restaurant offering locally sourced produce and local ales and a range of beverages. Hearty full English breakfasts are served in the lounge bar, with a selection of lighter continental options also available. The hall is set at the foothills of the western fells of the Lake District, between Wasdale and Eskdale. It is a 10-minute drive from the Ravenglass Miniature Steam Railway and Muncaster Castle, with its owl sanctuary.

Loved the history of the hotel, the animals on the property. Staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable enough, but could have been better. Breakfast was wonderful.

This was our second stay at Irton Hall to get away from fireworks with our little dogs. Food is fantastic, staff are so friendly and helpful and the location is stunning. Lots of places to visit, Wast Water is a must, absolutely breath taking. We will be back again next year

On driving in to Irton Hall, first impressions very nice… beautiful peacocks on the front lawn. Really Stunning. The staff were all exceptional, friendly and very polite and approachable. We were Checked in really quickly and given our room key .(no16) the room was huge and really nice. The view over the grounds with mountains was just perfect. Bed was really comfy, with crisp white bedding and nice pillows.Bathroom was great. Powerful shower, and a Jacuzzi bath which was very much needed after climbing Scafell Pike. Which was only 25mins drive away.. Breakfast and evening meals were really good too. Overall a really nice couple of nights stay over on our first trip to The Lakes. Overall excellent stay in this hidden gem in The Lakes, Thankyou to all
