A trip to st Remy from our house in Languedoc.Charming place and very friendly helpful staff. hard to find with sat nav though !

This is a restaurant with rooms. As it has a Michelin star the food is excellent, & very, very expensive. (We only ate there once & I could not really afford that). However, I do not know if it is because of Brexit or merely because we are elderly, but I could could not understand why my wife & I were forced to eat alone in a large restaurant when everyone else was dining al fresco in the Provencal evening Sun. The outside dining area was NOT full as we saw two unused tables for two. The rooms were not good. As my wife & I are both in our 80th year I had requested an accessible bedroom. We were not on the ground floor but had to struggle up a flight of above normal stairs. After the first night they had to change our room as there was a large damp patch on the carpet and the toilet flushed continually. The rooms lack chairs, so the bed is the only place to sit. They also lack adequate lighting, a cheval mirror, etc. etc. On arrival the table in our room contained a bottle of fizzy water, that we gratefully drank. However, for our next four nights stay it was never replenished. It proved a disastrously expensive stay as when we were leaving I noticed that my car door had suffered damage that is going to cost me €250 to repair (my car was on the street as the restaurant/hotel does not have its own parking.) The owners may know restaurants - hotels are a separate and distinct business requiring a different skill-set that they are yet to acquire.
